pre-painting steps

plaster

New masonry surfaces must be allowed to cure completely. Allow 28 days as the curing time for new masonry surfaces.

cleaning

Surface should be free from any loose paint, dust or grease. Growth of fungus, algae or moss should be removed by wire brushing and water. In case of areas having excessive dampness, please use Asian Paints DampBlock to limit further dampness. When the underlying surface exhibits chalkiness, in spite of thorough surface cleaning, use Asian Paints SmartCare Exterior Sealer.

filling for cracks

For filling cracks up to 3mm use Asian Paints SmartCare Crack Seal.

filling for holes & dents

In case of dents and holes, use Asian Paints Wall Putty or a mix of white cement and fine sand in the ratio of 1:3.

Apex Duracast CrossTex should not be applied on surfaces / substrates that are subjected to continuous seepage or dampness.

how much area does the product cover?

The product covers 3 square feet per kilogram for 1 coat.

can we use a thinner to dilute the paint?

We do not recommend using a thinner since no dilution is required in the paint.

what is the application procedure for this paint?

Before painting you need to first clean the surface properly to remove dirt, chalk, dust and particles of the previous paint. This can be done by scraping your walls with a wire brush and cleaning with water. We recommend that you allow freshly plastered surfaces to cure properly with water for at least 4 weeks before painting. In case of dents and holes, use Asian Paints Wall Putty or white cement and fine sand in the ratio 1:3. Apex Duracast Crosstex should not be applied on surfaces that are prone to continuous seepage or dampness. With regards to the painting procedure, below are the steps to be followed:

1) Apply Asian Paints Wall Putty (optional). Mix water in the Putty based on your requirement to form a paste. Allow the surface to dry for 4 hours.

2) Apply Exterior Wall Primer by mixing 900 - 1100 ml. of water. If using a spray, you need to mix 400 - 450 ml. of water. Allow surface to dry for 4 hours. (Application of primer is mandatory in case of re-painting. Horizontal surfaces like top of windows or ledges should be painted with 3 coats of Apex Ultima for greater protection).

3) Apply the first coat of Asian Paints Duracast Crosstex (no dilution required). Apply it with a Trowel. After application, allow the surface to dry for 12 - 16 hours.

4) Lastly, apply 2 - 3 coats of Asian Paints Apex Ultima/Apex/Apex Ultima Metallic. You can apply this with a brush, spray or roller by mixing 400 ml of water to the Emulsion. Allow the surface to dry for 4 - 6 hours.
